knitted :: Sunset Aranami
16 October 2012 by earthchick
When Olga announced a knitalong for her new Aranami Shawl pattern last May, I jumped in. I was completely taken with everything about the pattern, and I became obsessed with the idea of doing one in sunset colors – starting at the bottom with the orange of a setting sun, getting progressively darker, and then ending with the deep purple of a night sky.
I cast on right away and fell even deeper in love, with the concept, the pattern, and the yarn.
I even worked on it at the beach, though I rarely work with wooly yarns in such hot weather.
I finished in July, and it was every bit of glorious as I’d hoped.
Now that it’s fall, I’m finally getting to wear it (and I finally got it photographed!). I LOVE it.
It’s a beautiful and clever pattern, and so much fun to knit.
I’d played around a little with BrooklynTweed LOFT, but this is the first full project I’ve knit with it, and I am completely enamored.
The colors are so rich, and the yarn is so earthy and nubbly. Total YUM.
It looks great as a shawl, and just as great as a scarf.
And now I have enough yarn leftover to make one with the colors moving in the opposite direction! (purple to orange)
I would HIGHLY recommend casting on for one of these right away, if you haven’t already.
